What is a Jurisdiction?

by echolse last modified 2008-06-17 10:42

A jurisdiction is a governing area in which you live.

For planning purposes, a jurisdiction is the legally-defined area where you live.   Hillsborough County has ONLY four jurisdictions: The City of Tampa, The City of Temple Terrace, The City of Plant City and Unincorporated Hillsborough County.  Other areas such as Brandon, Wimauma or Riverview are understood as communities but have no clearly, defined area.  If you are not sure where you live, chances are it's Unincorporated Hillsborough County.

If you are unsure as to which jurisdiction you live in, please use the Land Use Information System Tool (LUIS).
