THIRD THURSDAYS Lunchtime Conversations at the Planning Commission Start Strong

Tampa, FL, February 11, 2010 – The Planning Commission launched ‘Third Thursdays at the Planning Commission’ on January 21st with speaker MaryEllen Elia, Hillsborough County Schools Superintendent.  Elia discussed opportunities for educators and students resulting from the $100 million Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Grant received by the School Board for the Intensive Partnership Project for Empowering Effective Teachers.  The candid discussion, questions and answers were very well received.

This month, get ready to add value to your brand and power to your life by bringing your core values to life with Amie Devero, author of Powered by Principle.  At the next Third Thursday on February 18th, Devero promises, “If your business core values live on a poster or are used mostly at staff retreats, or your personal core values haven’t been questioned since you first heard them at your parents’ knee, this presentation will jump start your business and your life.”  Robert B. Hunter, FAICP, Planning Commission Executive Director said, “We’re looking forward to the motivation Miss Devero brings as Third Thursdays continues to bring honest conversations and innovative ideas that can benefit us as individuals and as a community.”

The Third Thursdays series is free, and the public is warmly invited to attend.  Each one hour lunchtime event (bring your own bag lunch or contact Sobik’s, 813.223.7827, no later than 10:00 a.m. each Third Thursday to arrange for lunch delivery) will be held in a casual discussion format at 12 noon on the 18th floor of the County Center Building,  601 East Kennedy Boulevard, Downtown Tampa in the Planning Commission Boardroom.  Topics and speakers for the coming months will be posted on the Planning Commission web site at www.theplanningcommission.org.  For more information or topic suggestions, please contact Lynn Merenda at 813.273.3774 extension 342 or via email at merendal@plancom.org.
